I was so sure that the answer to “Pay for a crime, say” was “do the time” that my whole northeast was crazy.
Ooh I loved that! I got nothing until my third pass, but had started thinking it must be a rebus, then i found stuffed crust and it all came together so beautifully! Aw and I just read the constructors’ commentary which made me love them and this pizza - I mean puzzle - even more!!!
Loved this one, particularly because I was lost and hopeless until my second pass through in the south east with 180s which helped me realize the rebus element (ONE [EI] GHT [IE] S) which opened up the whole grid. Grateful to be reminded of childhood memories including my brother’s skateboarding exploits and a traffic jam during a drive into the City in which my late father said to a car full of skaters: “What do you say we do a three-sixty and head back to Jersey” Upon which, one of the young skaters said “Mr. Atlas, if we do a 360 wouldn’t we be headed in the same direction?” Thanks to the father-son creators for this excellent puzzle.
Did the whole thing without understanding the theme. But still an enjoyable Sunday.
@Foster if you hadn’t mentioned your car full of Catholics I’d say you and I have the same father! My Jewish dad was proud of being a “cowboy” - love to hear that other dads gave their kids similar backseat adventures. Thanks for sharing!
@Foster My dad also raced cars and motorcycles so I think he would’ve done very much the same as yours in that situation.
