TIL (things I learned) today. The pronunciation and spelling of BEAUCOUP. When Sam said it was French but so common as to not need a French solve I went and looked it up and had the online dictionary pronounce it for me. I’ve said it as ‘boo-coo’ forever and not once thought about where that word came from. I’m almost so embarrassed to post this but I loved learning it so much.
@Pat oftentimes I come here looking for company in my misery and feel more alone. That which for me was hard was easy for many. Nice to see some company here today. 🥰
After you solve 32 down and discover the word that Roger Ebert used 32 times in his review of “North”, I highly recommend seeking it out on Metacritic and giving it a read. So passionate and entertaining. Miss that guy.
Over 350 comments by noon eastern time, I didn’t need to read any of them to know I want alone in my misery.
@Sam Corbin yes, I was so proud that I did this Sunday's puzzle with no look-ups or cheats, and then this one took me down. Hard. On a Tuesday.
@Blurry Whoops. I see it’s linked in the hard clues section.
@Mean Old Lady Marvin the Martian is not junk television. He is one of my favorite Bugs Bunny foes! Have a watch. Quite entertaining. ☺️☺️☺️
@M. Hogan from the lung association website. Burning wood produces emissions that are widely recognized as harmful to human health. Many of these harmful emissions can occur both indoors and outdoors. People with lung disease face special risks, but so do children, older adults, people with cardiovascular disease and diabetics.
Can someone please explain how 86 down “What can symbolize 50” solves to “capitall “? “Cap it all”???
Took me a while to let go of sandals for sword go-withs as in swords and sandals films of the 50s.
I’m missing the connection of the moose in the picture and the connection to the puzzle.
45 across, ‘Precursor to a license’. I would not give up ‘permit’ and don’t understand ‘petsit’. Pet sit? What am I missing?
