I rarely put in my own two cents but I felt compelled to comment how truly great this puzzle is. Nearly every nook and cranny was a challenge but the puzzle is still solvable. Best puzzle in years.

Not easy but I finished it (and when I do, it’s always without cheating). I knew something had to be wrong. Finally, I changed my answer for cooties to germs from girls, and it all fell into place.

Is schadenfreude the right word? I think it might not be precise enough…. Anyway, I love how this type of difficult puzzles brings out the sore losers and crybabies en masse. This was a tough puzzle, especially the northwest. But there are people who solved it so stop bellyaching. And in reply to the person who said that the answers didn’t make sense, they did and do.

I did it. Liked it. But I don’t understand spidey sense. Can someone explain?

LOL. For form instruction, I had “Initial hire”. I didn’t give it a second thought as it wasn’t the hardest part of the puzzle for me. And it seemed like the cross worked: prepare to swing, I had “tie up” Now I was never a swinger but I just assumed that for those swingers out there, tie up might be part of the protocol

For Sam, I think I will ONLY use lacuna for that crawl out of bed feeling thinking of butter and syrup covered pancakes as I head towards a bowl of All-Bran.
