REBUSES are a horrible invention and I completely ignore them. I solve the words anyway. Just annoying.

Confirmation bias is not a hint to filling out the starred clues. Nothing to do with belief. Filling out the starred clues is just recognizing the phrase with missing letters. It’s not confirmation bias that enables you to do that. It’s just your brain doing it’s thing.
