It's been years since I retired, and the word "bandwidth" still makes my skin crawl.
Excellent Friday puzzle, especially the two long entries. Northwest last to fall. One nitpick on the column, though. The link the solution points to Thursday's puzzle.
MAXIMUS seemed wrong, but it's been years since I learned calculus. ABYSM - who knew? I'll have to work that into a conversation sometime.
Love the picture at the top of the column.
very good Tuesday puzzle. TIL: NUYORICAN . SAHL has been in NYT crossword puzzles for many years, though I don't remember seeing it much lately.
another entertaining Thursday puzzle. CINERAMA brought back childhood memories of going to the movies back in the sixties.
29A fell last. Not used to thinking of the word in plural form.
Very entertaining Thursday puzzle (always the best day of the week!). TIL (or maybe relearned): MEIOSIS vs. MITOSIS
@Andrzej Thanks for the laugh!
I thought it was a very fair Saturday puzzle. Lots of great cluing! Still trying to figure out how ROBE is a "Bench cover", though.
@TMD and Justin Makes sense. Thanks, both of you.
@BR the clue itself contains an abbreviation. That is the tip-off that the answer is also abbreviated.
Totally enjoyed this puzzle. Thanks, Brendan! Will have to check out your blog.
@Andrzej “Go to the loo”. 😂
The upper right fell last (had to look up 13-down). I have never heard the word FLOG used in that context.
@Bruce That was my last square as well. Took a wild guess at T, and was rewarded .
@John once I had ADO_FO through the crosses, the L seemed the likeliest
@Andrzej As a native English speaker, I was struck by the apparently random assignment of gender to nouns in other languages. Three of them in German!
28 across and down got me. I only know a few texting shortcuts, and kept thinking close up shots referred to photos.
@Grumpy Strands #379 “Sound switching” 💡🔵💡🔵 🔵💡🔵💡 🔵🔵🟡 Found a lot of words, but rarely the right ones. That said, I really liked the answer. Sam comes up with some of the more interesting Strands puzzles.
@Eric Hougland Great tip! thanks
@Crab Coincidentally, Monday was Dyngus Day
@G Strands #397 “Step on it!” 🟡🔵🔵🔵 💡🔵🔵 Agreed on the Sam Corbin comment.
@Mean Old Lady. Just rewatched that last night. One of my favorites
@Jane Wheelaghan That razor brand used to be a very common answer in NYT crosswords. Haven’t seen it much lately, though
can someone explain the clue for 122-across? Thanks!
@Paul Stoddard One of the teams started out in the American League, but moved to the National a couple of decades ago. Is this what you are referring to?
@Chris. I played Utrecht for a few years. It was the only version of that game I found interesting. Curious what your question is.
