Am I the only one who had major trouble with the NE corner? 11, 16, and 18A took me forever.
After the super difficult Sunday puzzle, this was so nice. Fun and easy (but not too easy). Clever, but not overly clever. 9D and 48D had me for a sec, but other than that I breezed through.
Omg. This was insane. I’m new(ish) to crosswords and had THE hardest time. I got that each themed clue was supposed to have double letters, but didn’t get that the only letters you were supposed to double were letters that spelled out each finger. Some of the normal clues were also so hard but so clever. 59A, 85A, 60D, and a couple others were so satisfying but took me forever to get. Not my favorite, but there were some gems in there!
This is one of my favorites!! I finished this twice as fast as a normal Tuesday puzzle—I guess I just VIBE with these constructors. Loved the reference to GENOVIA, and really loved how clever 34A [Word after G or e] was. More from this duo please!!
@Asher “Core” is a suffix in modern slang to denote a particular aesthetic. The most well known example is “cottagecore,” an aesthetic that idealizes rural life, with outfits featuring flouncy dresses, bandanas, and floral prints. Ironically this was the only clue I got straight away!! A really difficult puzzle and definitely not my favorite.

I thought I might be at an IMPASSE with the theme because I know nothing about football, but after the reveal of 62 and 63a I was able to parse out those shaded squares. Very clever and super satisfying to see my incorrect fill of TARANTINO become TARNATION as I figured out the theme!
