Does anyone creating crosswords ever read contemporary poetry? Seriously. We don’t say yon, oer, ere, the list goes on.

When will the Times stop using “poetically” as a clue for “ere”? No poet writing since 1920 or so uses “ere.” I wouldn’t expect all the constructors to be familiar with contemporary poetry, but the editor should have at least a passing acquaintance with it.
