Loved today's theme! Rebuses can be tricky, but once you get experienced at solving them, they add a nice extra dimension to the puzzle.
This puzzle stumped me. My 12 year old genius progeny figured out the theme. Rebuses without rebuses! I've only been doing daily crosswords for a few months, but this is the cleverest trick I've seen. Love it!
@Joy They are both contractions that mean ain't. It is not --> It isn't --> tisn't It is not --> It's not --> 'snot
Came here to find out what the answer to "Dabbling ducks" means. I solved it through crosses, but have no idea how the answer relates to the clue.
One of bit the best themes I've ever seen! Great fun to solve the theme entries.
@David Gropper The themed words are all downs and go up. The complete answer involves turning, up, etc. tacked onto the written answer.
@Katie I did so much research on the "300" movies as I was cocksure it had to do with one of them. D'oh!
@Karl The southwest corner broke my 71 day streak!
Theme seemed a little simplistic to me, but then the long Latin phrase seemed too hard. Wasn't quite calibrated to my tastes. I like a little wordplay in my Sunday.
@Michael D If you look at both words as verbs, it works.
*SPOILER* I wish it had accepted my construction of: YE/NO S/NO otherwise it's a little too cryptic.
@Ben Barton Akita crossed with Lusaka felt too hard for a Tuesday.
@KT yeah this stumped me for that reason but then I figured either I was misremembering or the puzzle editors didn't know.
