Almost missed the ABC in the top left and the XYZ in the bottom right. Sneaking a bit of fun into a themeless puzzle perhaps? Fantastic stuff!
I haven't commented in a while, but I think this might be one of my favorite NYT crosswords of all time! As a longtime fan of Looney Tunes I was smiling like a child the whole time, hats off to you Daniel Grinberg!
@Michael Weiland Could 38D also compliment the beginnings of the triple stack on the top? After all, NBA is on ABC. Daniel Sheremata might have snuck a theme into a Saturday puzzle right under our noses!
Thank you David Kwong, puzzles that play with the crossword format are always my favorite! There's artistic references and even a bit of meta magic in there, absolutely brilliant!
@john ezra I feel like the answers that had paintings stolen should have linked back to the artists. By the end, I felt like one of those guys with a metal detector combing the beach. Speaking of Ford, I encourage everybody to go research his failed attempt at creating a town in the Amazon, Fordlandia. Fascinating stuff!
Always love puzzles that play with conventional cluing! The fact that the circled letters spelled REBUSES is the cherry on top of a very fun puzzle.
For a sixteen year old this is an incredibly clever and impressive puzzle! Great job Mr. Krishnamurthy :D PS, is there any reason GRETA is highlighted when you click on SEAANEMONE or is that just a bug?
@Danny Older solver here, you're not alone. I've stopped caring about solve time and just try to appreciate the clever themes and fun words I can gleam from each puzzle.
Always love a puzzle with symbols! Simple theme that allowed for some really solid long answers and a breezy finish, nice job Mr. Zheng!
@Danny Older solver here, you're not alone. I've stopped caring about solve time, and now I just try to appreciate the clever themes and obscure words of each puzzle.
@Ann Also greatly appreciated [S/T]HEHULK and SI[M/N]CITY as both a superhero and gaming fan!
Always love a good Schrödinger! If any crossword makers read this, please consider SCAR/SCAB for your next puzzle, that one always gets me (and SCAR is in this puzzle too)!
