@Ged I saw a bunch of comments about WADI and felt lost until I saw yours. It's a common word (and sight) in southwestern US deserts, but probably much more obscure in other parts of the country.

@Jacqui J Same here. The across clue was a bit more oblique than I would have liked to fill out a foreign-language word that the majority of solvers won't have encountered. It came down to Googling it or trying random letters until the piano riff played.
