@Eric I was so excited to see her mentioned! I had Ms. Allen as my History of Jazz professor in undergrad. She was an incredible talent and wealth of knowledge. My father is a huge jazz fan and her course provided an additional avenue of connection with him, so it has an extra soft spot in my heart.
@Andrzej I'm in the process of brushing up on my Polish and always look forward to your linguistic and cultural insights (and puppy pictures). This comment was particularly helpful today!
@Andrzej I believe age definitely played a role as we're all fairly young still (well we were in our 20s about 10 years ago when this happened). My Polish cousins were learning English well before I was picking up Polish so I'm sure that also helped. I do think Polish pronunciation is way more straightforward and definitely my preference. I just wish I could get my mouth to cooperate more often. Hence being great for tongue-twisters!
@Andrzej This brought back fond memories of trading tongue-twisters with my Polish cousins. We were all in agreement that one language was a bit more twisty!
