You need a thick skin to post a puzzle. Don’t let the “I solved it so quickly” contingent wear you down. Lots of new clues, updated entries and smart wordplay. Thanks.
I know people love to talk about how quickly they do they do these, but I’ve been doing these for 60 years and I like when they take a little bit longer because I have to think. Whata terrific debut. Look forward to many more.
This was just great. Was flummoxed until I was well into the clues but pleased to finish. I’ve been doing these puzzles for decades and so it’s actually fun when you get something challenging but solvable. Great puzzle. Thank you.
@Sue I have also started doing this, but find some of them difficult. The name that was so familiar now eludes me. But I do like coming upon words that I would swear I never heard of much less remember them being used. It’s great to have access to those puzzles and sometimes it can be a challenge which is fun. They often “reach back” to stars and public figures from the ‘30s forward. Although that was not my generation, I realize that I have absorbed that history.
Everyone is welcome to a view, but my conclusion is that this was a highlight crossword puzzle, as it has engendered so many different reactions. There was a time when everyone would know this poem, especially the closing lines, but that was 60 years ago. Many unkind and unnecessary comments, but interesting to see so much passion created by a puzzle. Well done.
It immediately was clear that this was something new. Love the different approach to clues. When you’ve been doing these as long as I have, something that makes you think and think differently is really welcome. I’m sure it will rattle some people, but I enjoyed it. Thank you.
Some never-seen and clever clues. Had to re- think a few that would otherwise seem easy. Look forward to more. Thanks.
Really clever and well done. Lots of clues I’ve never seen before. Look forward to many more puzzles by GS. Thanks.
Not a quick one but clever and made me think. Thanks. And good luck!
@Erk the same person who said “hundo” yesterday?
@Clem I also opt for agorae, but would be happy if NYT just picked one and stayed with it. At any given point it will take either.
Really well done Was filling in answers but took a while to understood what I had. Appreciate the intricacy. Bravo. Heading to your others.
@JPT Big sigh. I thought the comments would be full of reactions to this. I appreciate the inclusion of vernacular, but really?
@Mooße it appears to be hopeless!
