If the goal was to fit as many natticks as possible to meat an unsatisfactory theme, it was met wonderfully
My 2nd Saturday completion and it makes my first ever 6 day streak. I dont think ive ever felt so much glory before in my life (minus meeting my wife)
Another frustrating Monday with, in my opinion, far too many specific people names needed to be known. Least fun aspect of NYT crosswords is when they introduce too many. I dont mind a couple since you can easily context clue them but this one had 6 or 7 very specific names in pretty key spots. Doesn't quite feel as fair
Big Day today! I completed my first 4 day streak today. Monday through Thursday all gold stars. Came close three times before. So happy! We'll see if I can pull off the fabled work week sweep tomorrow. Fingers crossed
Few things more annoying and unsatisfying than specific drug names in puzzles. Especially on a Tuesday of all days. Thu/Fri maybe. A nattick filled slog today. Very disappointed after the great feeling and adequately challenging/easy Monday.
Who ever complained about last week definitely won't be complaining today lol. This was a doozy
FINALLY! Finally got the work week sweep. First ever 5 day in a road gold star. Feels good😄
Another Monday I take issues with. Too many overly specific clues tied together. To me these types feel less in the spirit of gamesmenship and fairness. Less solvable imo then any of last week's puzzles
Failed this one likes usually but I enjoy failing these hard ones that still feel fair. Well done!
Even when I looked up spoonerisms after solving that word, I did not get the theme. But boy did I feel that aha when I read the article. Its nice when a puzzle feels fair even when it defeats me soundly. Well done
Missed it today but it was fair. 5 streaked last week and 4 streaked this week so still a best two week performance
Solid puzzle. Though but fair with only one natick to me. Beat me tho so I will enjoy a legal alcohol beverage today as revenge to the younger constructor. He has beaten me today, but I can buy a drink he cannot.
Terrible Tuesday in my opinion. Not a fan today unfortunately.
Nothing more dejecting than failing it and struggling, but then seeing how many enjoyed it easily. Definitely need to continue improving vocabulary lol
Was happy to see my favorite dip, but a bit perturbed at the overabundance of obscure names. Monday is supposed to be the fun day but sometimes is more frustrating than Tuesday when there are too many names in key spots😅
I was mad when wonover was a word until I realized it was won over. I sometimes still forget the clues can be multiple words and get mind trapped lol. I enjoyed the theme a bunch even if I failed yet again for a 4 day streek
Since I complained last week at what I felt was an unfair Monday I will applaud today's perfect Monday. This one felt wonderfully fair and stimulating. Maybe I am a glutton and just enjoy food themes more. I did have to laugh at yet another Oreo sighting tho lol. Its certainly proving to be the clue of the summer
Liked the theme but lost on heaveho. Erat, kirov, and zork proved too random for me. Happy with that loss tho, given how hard it was. Not happy with that word tho in relation to the clue. Crazy combo for a stretch answer. At least the difficult retired faculty clue was solvable with surrounding answers
Lost my five Tuesday streak on this one but ill take the L here without complaint. I failed to try and look at the theme when stuck in the top left grid area. And I need to remember Ecru lol. That pops up all the time
Tough but rewarding. Cool theme!
I liked the theme but didnt appreciate some of the clues approaching natick level. An overreliance on specific foreign words always annoys me a bit and feels cheaper. Enjoyed most of this tho
Cool, enjoyable, and challenging. Perfect Thursday
Omg this was hard as a Sunday some parts lol
Always a great feeling when I get the gold star on my first completion. Slowly feel like I'm improving a bit. Aron was tricky for me. "Privy to" had me second guessing a bit but it went through so I'm a happy camper. Stu was a complete guess so it would have been very hard if I didnt complete lol
Delightful and challenging!
Time to learn some new music and watch some old cartoons
Bravo. My friends and I enjoyed the puzzle. Well done.
Isn't the past tense of simulcast, just simulcast. I don't think simulcasted is proper
Funny enough it wasn't the orlon/inxs natick that delayed me but a misspelling of noggin. I should have picked up that "Maroo" makes much less sense as a name than "Mario" much sooner.
Incredible puzzle. And I failed! Missed enough on the left quad to lose out. But it FELT fair and I know why I failed. This is such a great feeling. Tuesday ans Wednesday this week should learn from Thursday. It was both more challenging but completely withing reasonable guidelines set but the NYT. Bravo
Nothing less fun then arbitrary proper names thrown in conjunction with odd words.
@Withnail I actually saw a video of a person falling into one. Scares me every time I get on one now.
@Mike the name was mentioned in a game Hades 2 ive been playing and since then ive seen it at least 3 time in the crossword
A really clever theme that I enjoyed a bunch. Broke my 4 Wednesday streak here. Middle left quad did me in. A rough week for me so far unfortunately.
I sure love it when its natick city in the crossword
Challenging but I managed. Felt tough but much more fair than yesterday's proper noun fest
I liked this Thursday a lot. The nattick with yentas and nast was okay for me since it was really the only one and I was actually able to work it out in a way that felt fair. Plus its a Thursday and not a stinking Tuesday like a certain other puzzle that got my goat this week.
I sigh every time a random sound is selected for a clue. Always irritating those ones. More so than obscure historical figures, since they can be so at random
Not me deciding to stop complaining after seeing the author lol. But I was miffed at the left side nattick. Wouldn't have helped me tho. Today just wasn't my day. But I did think the theme was okay.
@The X-Phile. Hard is fine. I've had plenty that I missed but still got the aha moment after reading and seeing the answers. Yesterday didn't have the same level of gamesmanship id expect from crosswords. A good crossword is like biting into a nice spicy pepper while yesterday's crossword was like biting into an overly spicy pepper that also had too many seeds in it
An almost really nice puzzle ruined by a right side nattick
@Andrew CRNA. how do you all get so fast at them? Dictionary studies?
I am not crazy! I know he swapped those grids! I knew it was Mnemonic. One after Nemonic. As if I could ever make such a mistake. Never. Never! I just - I just couldn't prove it. He - he covered his tracks, he got that idiot at the New York Times to lie for him. You think this is something? You think this is bad? This? This chicanery? He's done worse. That Connections! Are you telling me that a man just happens to fall like that? No! He orchestrated it! Jimmy! He Epee'd through a sunroof! And I saved him! And I shouldn't have. I took him into my own firm! What was I thinking? He'll never change. He'll never change! Ever since he was a publisher, always the same! Couldn't keep his hands off of the mini! But not our Jimmy! Couldn't be precious Jimmy! Naticking them blind! And he gets to be a creator? What a sick joke! I should've stopped him when I had the chance! And you - you have to stop him!
@Barry Ancona you can tell. Perfectly pleasant Monday in my opinion
