Verge In, Yeah.
This entire puzzle felt like when someone reaches around your back to tap your left shoulder, but they're actually on your right. Disorienting, clever, frustrating, and oddly satisfying. Well done!
I got this one, but I really didn't *get* this one until I read the column. I'm really glad that I get to share our planet with people as smart as Simeon Seigel. Bravo!
Loathed this. It felt like the constructor didn't believe the theme answers were enough of a draw (they were; those were the best clues in the whole puzzle), so they rewrote a bunch of other clues to have the most obtuse, arcane solutions possible. Boo.
Sports figures, pedantic flexes about dead monarchs of dead monarchies, and BROEY? OH JOY. Nnnnnnot my favorite puzzle.
I teach my 2 year old that it's not a game unless everybody knows that you're playing. It's something that she, and the creators of this puzzle, seem to have a hard time with. It's not a fun rebus unless there's a revealer.
I loved this! What a fun theme with interesting cluing. Banger of a Sunday. Thank you for your good work!
This was such a good theme!
So much fun. I never get to be the person who immediately gets the theme or gimmick, but today was my day!
I really enjoyed this whole fill. The theme answers felt like a Sunday in their conceit. Very pleasant company while nursing a baby at all hours. Thank you!
Meh, I broke my streak on this puzzle because I don't watch movies or play marbles. I hate when a Sunday doesn't go well for me. Really sets a tone for the rest of the day.
@Francis the first time a president recommended the US take Greenland was in the 1860s. Unfortunately, Commander Cheeto is not experiencing a novel thought.
@RI guy Ha! I also got Yung Gravy pretty quickly. As a veteran English teacher, I should be ashamed of myself. A lot of teachers do a lot to wreck RF's work. Having read more about him, I think he'd have been annoyed with what some people do to it. Happily, early in my career, I found this work (not Frost) and worked hard not to become a ruiner. https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/46712/introduction-to-poetry
I loved and adored this pizzle! Truly felt like a meeting of the minds with our dear puzzle creator. Thanks so much for your good work!
@Jane Wheelaghan Lefty loosey, righty tighty is how we teach kids to open and close jars and taps. So, when you want to open the peanut butter jar, you turn it to the left. When you're ready to put it back, you remember that it's right to tight. Commencement = graduation. At the end of the ceremony, you take off your mortarboard (graduation cap) and toss it up in the air to cwlebrate.
@SiobhanL I learned two. Limn and abysm. I admire your vocabulary!
This was such a fun one for me! I only got stuck on the woman in distress/trim after purchasing one and had to play the alphabet game on it. Thank you for a great time.
The only clue I had trouble understanding was HEADSTO. All the other theme answers made actual words. Otherwise, I loved this.
...is one not a prime number?
Diabolical! Delicious! Thank you!
