I've never hated a puzzle more than this one full stop
This felt way too easy for a Friday. However, I have felt incredibly annoyed when others remark the same on days I've struggled! So this one just happened to fit with my limited knowledge and I'll take it!

I'm tired of the Super Mario clues that seem to appear way too frequently. Just boring. AWOL/MIA clueing was wrong. Why do they keep making this same mistake?
Would somebody please be so kind as to tell me what a summer CPA is?

Because the puzzle accepted either letter in the rebus or both letters, it just seemed ridiculously easy. I didn't get the theme at all, I just zoomed ahead and filled in the easiest Thursday I can remember in a long time and solved it. I think it should have either required the rebus to solve or it should have been a Mon/Tues puzzle.
This felt like a true Thursday puzzle which I enjoyed. I didn't understand the theme at all and just forged ahead solving it in spite of my ignorance.
@Joya Yeah, I agree with you. If I get a typo on a Sunday, it's rare that I will spend longer than about 20 seconds scanning the giant grid to find it. I just don't have the patience and I'll give in and hit reveal...

@Marty this bothers me too. Seems like the editor's job, no? Either abbreviate a word in the clue or add 'abbr' to it. I want a hard puzzle but I want rules and I'm not psychic.
Lions sleeping in dens? Really? I mean, yeah they give birth in them and the cubs live in there for a few weeks, but this felt weak to me. Tuna oil? Ugh
Would someone be so kind as to explain to me what 43D means? I'm old enough to remember our VCR but I don't understand the clue.
@Xword Junkie The 1st theme clue annoyed me as well. It's such an easy fix on the clue to make it correct. Loved TAOOFPOOH and fondly remembered reading it.

@Paul Turner this happened to me on Wordle. I had a streak that was inexplicably broken when the correct answer wasn't recognized by the program for a few days. Really wrecked my stats.
I put FPH in the rebus squares and it wouldn't solve. I think that's a dirty trick.
