@Eleanor tell him it was a fun puzzle. Good job!
@Rodzu I thought so, but it took a couple scans to realize I had CFa and WaNG instead of CFO and WONG.
@Barry Ancona I agree, Barry. I was wondering what the ER had to do with the theme. I guess it’s just that the -ER word gets a rethink. Good, challenging puzzle. I enjoyed it.
@Morgan Wick it’s Italian. Try thinking in something other than English. Other languages have genders.
@Nancy you’re criticizing constructors for watching tv and movies yet you read crossword commentaries? Lol. One of those is normal.
@Michael how is something no one has heard of better than something everyone has heard of lol.
@Darren “pass the baton” Have you had many normal conversations before?
@T it’s probably the biggest movie release this year. She has albums, has performed on awards shows, been in an HBO show, and makes the news constantly, for good and bad reasons. Is Taylor swift too obscure for you too? Stewie is one of probably the top ten most famous female athletes in the world right now and plays in New York, the NYT’s backyard. It’s ok if you don’t know something, that doesn’t mean it’s unfair. For me those were the two easiest answers on the grid.
Hardest Tuesday of all time.
@dutchiris I never much got the uproar about GMO foods. People will criticize someone for not getting vaccinated because “it’s science,” but then be against GMOs when that’s science too. Corporate regulation around GMOs, sure. I trust corporations as far as I can throw them. But not the concept of GMOs, surely!
Sorry, not for me. The math was fine and I understood the concept while solving, but I didn’t find the phrases to be as obvious as the constructors claimed. And when you don’t know what sums to factor, it gets to be quite hard. 40 pence and 16 bit sounded good. Aside from 8, Nintendos have also come in 16 and 64 bits. Should have said NES or original Nintendo if that was what was meant. There has also been both a pac 10 and a pac 12, depending on the year. I didn’t know how many winks are in a nap nor how many guns are in a salute.
@JB 10 years for the Iliad if I’m not mistaken and 20 years for the Odyssey?
@Joan Colin Jost is a person on SNL and does that segment with Michael Che.
@Katie the problem wasn’t the math, it’s that if you don’t know the phrase there is no way to deduce it. I don’t know how many pences are in a pound and nintendos have come in 8, 16, 32, and 64. Impossible, so I would have to brute force the numbers cube.
@Emma S I grew up in Chicago and everyone I know still says Sears Tower and Marshall Field’s, so no, it’s still just Lake Shore Drive and always will be.
@Bill in Yokohama it’s not always buy one get one free. It could be buy one get one half off. BOGO doesn’t always mean free in my experience.
@kilaueabart I think you have your clues mixed up.
@Barbara Imperiale shouldn’t you be in church right now?
@Tom the women certainly can as well as the men the past couple of years
@Tom whoops just saw you were talking about Washington
@Natasha some of the shows are just on MAX. Does anyone still have HBO on its own? Like on cable or something?
@Mike Any sports scoreboard ever says LV. Abbreviations like UNLV.
