MOLARS don't grab, they grind.
Wasn't getting the gimmick until I read the article but I still didn't care....
"On key Kong" was quite clever... :)
I've heard of pianoforte but I never heard of fortepiano (but apparently that IS a thing). A filler-inner. Themeless Sunday puzzles are always a let-down. I'm sorry but they are.
I appreciate the work that went into this one. Very challenging!
@Phil "sez" is a very informal way of saying "says" but it's also quite possibly very American. Forgive us... :)
No clue what "Power Grid" means. Was there a theme? Couldn't find it. A filler-inner. Hate when Sundays don't have a theme. It's their only reason for existing.
@Mgood I know that a three playing card is called a "trey" but I thought this was a stretch.
I had to look up NOISOME as meaning odorous. I would have thought it had something to do with.....noise? But it checked out! :)
I enjoyed the puzzle but this is another one where I filled out the entire thing before REALLY understanding the BEFORE and AFTER notations. The circled animals were fine but I didn't realize the connection with the leftover letters and the AFTER clues. I'm up early you see and maybe not quite awake yet..... :)
Today's puzzle was do-able, the rotating sections that spelled out new words was, I'm sure, a LOT of work but ultimately meant nothing to me to solve the puzzle or as a reward. Again, I give applause to the creator for the work involved but it was absolutely unnecessary.
I wasn't really getting the theme (legal arguments, I guess....). Never heard of NO TRUE SCOTSMAN and after reading the definition, I still don't understand why the phrase means what it means. I completed it but wasn't really thrilled with the puzzle today.
@Rebecca I thought it said "C4, Fix!" because of the line behind it. I didn't understand what that meant. Thanks!
I enjoyed this puzzle today. It was a bit frustrating but that's the challenge! :)
I "got it" but it wasn't super fun. I did "reveal" the puzzle to fill in the last square I couldn't get. I eventually realized that "Momtobe" was "Mom to be". I was like: "What's Momtobe?"
A filler-inner. No theme. What was the point?
Didn't get the gimmick for the longest time but I finally did! Not a bad puzzle but I had no idea what "The Settlers of Catan" was. I had to look it up (afterwards).
After reading that the "All signs point to Yes" was having to do with Magic 8 ball it made a little more sense. I guess.... (I didn't realize that all the circled letters were signs until the end.)
Another puzzle that I didn't have much trouble filling in but had no clue what the theme was until after it was finished. It was okay.
Never heard of "Behind a Paywall" but then I don't get out much. :)
@Chris The U's in the across clues are pockets and they hold objects that complete the intersecting down clues. It's one of those puzzles that took a lot of time to make that left me a little cold upon completion too.
The puzzle was fine and the rebuses were okay but the circled letters....eh....
I don't understand CELL RECEPTION as a gathering. I had to look up BOX SOCIAL. If the link was SQUARE, CELL and BOX, I don't really understand how those words apply to anything in the puzzle. Is it because the hats and balloons are in boxes or cells or squares? I didn't feel that this was all that clever. Just annoying. But that's me.
I read "Means of closing up a vent" as an actual vent and some mechanism that closes it. But I guess we need to think outside the box. :) I've heard of the word "yeet" but I'm old and don't use it. There were so many unusual clues and answers, I thought there was maybe a theme and there just wasn't.
@Charlie Fuchs I didn't really read Clue 37A that closely...... :)
Didn't get the gimmick until after I solved it but it wasn't bad. :)
The G in SIGIL was my last square. It was a guess with PROG which was also a guess. Calling Generation X "middle-aged" was a bit shocking since I'm older than Gen X. :) ITS A ME MARIO was a teeny bit racially-insensitive but overall the puzzle was fun.
Finally figured out the the Z's were rotated N's. It was okay....
@surfertom007 Fear of missing out. :)
Was a little confused by the circled letters, thinking they spelled an actual word but I guess they're just being used to connect the dots?
Even with the hint, I had NO IDEA what the gimmick was in this puzzle until the end. And that's not a good thing. :)
EXTREMELY annoying. Until I figured it out. Not bad! :)
