I think that’s enough Ana De Armas for a while
Oh my goodness, took me a bit to figure out what was going on but this was so creative and enjoyable.
@Barry Ancona agreed! I actually never find the ones I had trouble with in that section. Great suggestion.
Just did the mini and “unique letters” was such a bad clue.
Was super confused by the uppercase clues not fitting the answers, should have expected it was a glitch. But that’s for sure disappointing.
Probably my favorite theme ever! Loved it.
@clue by four oh wow! the inside of the toilet bowl is not something I ever would have guessed to be risqué
This took me forever to figure out but loved it once I did. Great theme idea.
Can someone explain why CLAY is the answer for “Singles material, say” I’m sure it’s something super obvious that I’m missing.
this theme felt super forced and odd to me, but the actual puzzle was great!
@Remi I got completely stuck on vole too and IVF seems so obvious in retrospect
Mind blown. 🤯 I couldn’t figure out the theme until reading this column and now I’m just speechless. Bravo.
@Dave Humphrey It’s bizarre how often it happens. Totally agree with you.
Loved the trick with this puzzle! Simple yet super satisfying, probably because the clues were unique too.
This was great other than the sort-of-homophones.
@Charles it’s referring to breaking up “wordchoice” into 4 parts - w or d choice
@dvdmgsr I’m from the Northeast (born in the 80s) and have always heard so-and-so used in this way, but it was always from people in their 60s or older.
“Household chore traditionally done on Mondays” Is this a real thing?
@CaptainQuahog I sort of agree but in this case the circles were clued into the puzzle
@Juli agreed, although the theme did help me pre-fill some of the shaded boxes… I think it was kind of a forced theme
Are we supposed to write something in the holes? The answer key has nothing there, but the app isn’t recognizing that the puzzle is complete. -_-
@Mr Dave “is” singular is referring to “the clue” so it’s not incorrect I do get what Steve is saying though. He read the column as saying we should KNOW this clue is not referencing the stores because of the apostrophes, even though the store names do have apostrophes. That's not what Deb is saying but I can see how someone would read it that way.
This was okay. Weird cluing in places (54D and 55D for example) but the clues for the longer fills were all pretty strong.
@Mean Old Lady the Eva clue still has me boggled even after reading all the guesses at what it meant
@dutchiris I can confirm that people do say “weird flex but ok” pretty commonly. It was still odd to see here but not too jarring.
@Marty the answer key doesn’t have that tho?
@Violet got it, thanks. The solution had nothing entered there so I wasn’t sure what to do. Worked now!
@Ross this is the same exact error I had for the longest time
@Barb Lin thank you! I much prefer your cluing to what they changed it to!
What I found disappointing was that the “World Series” connection between the other 4 entries can be easily made from the clues alone. I was (probably unreasonably) expecting more of a satisfying revealer connection.
