I thought the puzzle theme was fun. But I found it frustrating that I had to enter every hyphen as a rebus! Maybe it was a quirk of my phone, but I could only access the non-letters keyboard by clicking on a square, selecting "rebus", then clicking on the "123", then typing a hyphen, and then clicking the rebus closed! The first time through the puzzle, I'd left the "line" squares blank, thinking they'd get filled in automatically when I finished the rest of the puzzle. No luck. Then I tried filling in "line" again. Still no luck! I just kept getting the "something is amiss" message. So, then I thought maybe something really was wrong with another answer, so I pored over every square. Finally, I went through the work of filling in all those hyphens and it solved. It just seemed unnecessary. I love it when the puzzle automatically flips to a picture at the end!
@Kristin J Thank you! I was stumped by this one too. I got it filled from other clues, but I don't know any French, so I couldn't figure out how it made any sense. Same issue with One L for the Justice Kagan clue until it was explained in the blog. Didn't know law students were referred to like that.
@sotto voce Oh, duh! I was stumped on this one after getting it filled in from other words in the grid. Maybe I just needed more coffee, but I had lots of those in this puzzle - filled it in correctly but had no idea what it meant...
