This probably won't get past the moderators but here goes. A note on general civility. Like many I occasionally like to grouse about crosswords that in my opinion miss the mark -- too arcane, heavy handed, whatever. Not all crosswords are created equally. Inevitably there are a couple frequent posters -- you know who I mean -- who swoop in to defend the crossword. The crossword doesn't need defending, they have our money, life will go on. But these guardian angels of the grid are often irksome and condescending. It's just a different opinion, okay? Not every differing thought has to be corrected. Thank you. Please let this go through, others probably feel the same.

The leap from Western Union to state abbreviations is so broad that even Evil Knievel couldn't jump it! This was a tiresome puzzle. Blech!

No chance->no chants->no om .... the most arcane, far-fetched theme I've ever seen. I don't even want to go back and finish the fill after this ditsy doozy

I dunno. Hated Saturday and now I hated Sunday too. Everyone seems to love it so I guess I'm out of synch with some of these great crosswords. Words like vergeinyeah are just gibberish to me. Aren't they supposed to mean something on their own even if there's a double meaning?

Cute graphics, fun finale for decently difficult puzzle

My favorite thing! Figuring out the gimmick halfway through and having it help me fill. Versus my usual MO of somehow finishing without getting the theme.

After going through the across clues with no comprehension I was ready to quit right then and there. I was composing a tart complaint in my mind but grudgingly decided to give the down clues One and only One pass. And the clouds parted with a Heavenly Sound and I was off and running. Illustrates my number one axiom on life: You never know til you try.

After whizzing through the first ten minutes I thought it was an oddly easy Sunday puzzle. But then it dragged! As others noted "ol " without the e was a stretch. But generally enjoyable. Anytime I get done with Sunday in under an hour with no help is a win!

I regularly carp about things and get corrected by you know who, but today I have to say this puzzle was about perfect and I got in just under the one hour mark. It started easy and about a third of the way I stalled. And towards the end I twigged on the theme. Unlike others here i picked up that jam packed meant three rebuses and from there I made some corrections and made it. Quite enjoyable and challenging!

I complain when they're too hard and I complain when they're too easy. There's no pleasing me!

I thought it a bit easy for a Thursday but I bogged down at the end. Those letter Qs, you never think of them

Um not gonna spend all morning on this one, that's for sure

Hated it! So random, take letters from other words and put here or there. What is a parade rest?

So many baked in errors. I kept fixing one by one, but there was always one (or more) out there. Time for a walk!!!!

Another puzzle with lots of colored squares where you have to read the column to be told how clever it is. Riffle shuffle obscurity rando nonsense.

It's been a while since I was quite as stumped before turning to the column. Nothing egregious to complain about but didn't enjoy the randomness of the answers. Goss is not really a term that people use. You'd think "Age of ....." would make you smile, but I found it annoying. Maybe just me

What a satisfying moment to go from completely in the dark on the concept to aha! The revealer was IK which I had put in before partially. Plural of senators robes a bit much but all in all one of my favorite Thursdays ever

Speaking g as a boomer, this was fun! I bogged down at the end and had to UNDO a corner.

Clue: When a crossword theme proves to be no help in solving individual crosses and is a hardly a "delightful solve." Answer: Underwhelming

Well glad I looked at the hints instead of spending an hour on something I never would have gotten

So fun to figure out the theme midway and use that to fill. Enjoyed this!

"Brisk and enjoyable" ? How about tedious and annoying? Filled with random answers that aren't cute or apt. Hated it! Not gonna Google it, I quit!

So many times I'll lumber through a solve without figuring out the theme. What fun when recognizing the theme helps with problematic solves. This was fun

Well it was a slog for me with lots of prompts to keep going but the magical display at the end was fun

Once I realized that some of the words had letters outside the grid I thought no, hard pass. Life is too short

S****l? That's rough 🤪

Orange one sitting on me when I solved that clue

A bit of a slog

Little Havana is a neighborhood in the city of Miami. South Beach is a neighborhood of the city of Miami Beach. People say "Miami" when they mean Dade County.

I wish I would have noticed the crossword title on the launch page, would have saved me some time. Was thinking the six key phrases weren't very clever word salad and then it dawned they were actually very clever

I don't understand ross as supreme leader

This was a nice pleasantly hard puzzle for an hour with coffee. Time to get out of the bathrobe!

Sometimes I feel like a wimp for reading the hints but today I'm glad I saved myself another hour. I was deeply committed to toothache and nothing was coming together in SE corner 😒

From cray to craw to crab ... I finally got there. Was a slog but had some amusing entries

Where are the links to this column in your new app?!? I've had to google it to find it. Please fix!!

I guess I'm stressed out in general because I hated this one. Dripping in urban areas was unsolvable and like many I had Eminem ( and Eli crossing) which was problematic. Oopsie was a bit much. I gave up because I was t having fun with the arcane theme

I finished but scratching my head over answers to treat and mouseketeers tool and a few others
