I liked it! I don't feel like this Thursday twist is out of the norm for a Thursday twist, so the panning in the comments surprised me. I thought FARGO, HEADSTONE, and THEO were easy enough to sort of grasp that there was a letter shift gimmick going on until the revealer fell. Then the process of trying to slot in the NE for SEA NETTLES and IMPANELING was fun since I didn't expect those clues. Really thought the cluing was fair and the theme was standard Thursday, hope others enjoyed.
I liked it :) Thursdays are expected to not be everyone's jam, but I thought the cluing and fill were fun enough even if the reveal wasn't a crazy twist. It did help fill everything up to SASSOt but quickly fixed. Fun puzzle
@Mary ESSIE was clued 15 times from 1953-2003 as an actress from either Ah Wilderness (1935) or the Matrix movies. Seems like this pop culture "dumbing down" has been going on for 72 years?
I loved the theme clues, picturing time as going ripe is a great image. Fun puzzle!
@Craig The "road" it references is the "famed street" in 113A. E is the last letter of that answer
