I wasn't sure at first. I was a doubting Thomas. More please. I loved it.
As I often repeat, "Say something once, why say it again?"
@Kirk when brightness is measured in bed, it is measured in linens
When I got the 1st of the top three, I immediately got the other two. When I got the 1st of the bottom three, I needed crosses to help out with the others. I have hope that I'm successfully avoiding a bit of the worst of pop culture.
Throw me in the basket of deplorables that prefer themed Sundays, like large Wednesdays, not overgrown Fridays.
Am I alone in that I don't want to develop the skill of getting Kardashian clues on crosses? Feh! And who, by the way, commutes by cab? This puzzle was a slog for me and the "aha" moments were more like "oh". Maybe it's because I once lived in Natick.
I already knew that Beijing is larger than "Little Rhody" but TIL that Juneau is as well. Way bigger.
Entered STOPS and OR NURSES, both correctly answering the clues. That plus an opaque theme left me flat. At least it's only one more week until the next Thursday puzzle.
Call me a downer. I prefer themes where, once revealed, assist in solving the puzzle. This theme, once revealed (early on), turned the puzzle into a themeless one. Clever to construct, I'm sure.
Very clever, well clued puzzle. Nicely done. I'd offer "not a Thursday". I'm sure things will settle out over time but I've had recurring thoughts recently that today's puzzle isn't a today's puzzle. Sometimes too difficult. Sometimes too easy. Because Wednesday is my favorite puzzle day of the week, I loved this puzzle.
Finished quickly with no lookups but the unholy popup popped up! Had to find and fix 2 typos.
41A should refer to theme clues, not answers. And when a puzzle has theme clues, exactly one person, or in this collaboration two people, get to enjoy the experience. The rest of of solve a themeless puzzle. I'm halfway through, so perhaps there is a mystery yet to be revealed. Until then, this is a slightly easier Friday/Saturday and I'm more than a bit disappointed.
@Dave S after I realized what pants had to fit, I used Google as a spell checker by typing in a weird set of letters that could only resolve to JODHPURS
@Barry Ancona Meat loaf? Again? I agree. It solved like a straightforward themeless puzzle where a lot of letters were pre-entered into the grid (though in a clever way). Must have been super fun to construct. Not too satisfying to solve.
@James B now it's the PAC-2
Second puzzle in a row where the theme, such as it is, applies to the clues, not the answers. Disappointment continues ...
"The expression 'in like Flint' is correct usage" is a bald-faced lie.
