@Anonymous I had it as “I GOTTA GET” (maybe my Kentucky background?) which crossed ok with HAGI (versus Haji). Had to look at the solution to finally find the change. IMHO it works either way.

Lovely puzzle. As a baseball fan, I really appreciated the connection of WORLD SERIES with numbers 2,4,8, and 16. However, as a mathematician, I look at 2,4,8,16 as the beginning of a sequence whereas 2+4+8+16 form a partial sum of a series.
