This was probably my least favorite puzzle in a very long time. Glad to hear I wasn’t the only one who thought this was a slog.
Loved that there was ARIANA right above TOM Sandoval. As a fan of Vanderpump Rules, this made me laugh. Love when puzzles have little “Easter eggs” like that!
Danggg that was a hard Wednesday. It feels way too tricky putting APLOMB and niche names like an Air Force base, Italian beer, and an older Broadway lead all in the same corner. The rest of the answers just felt… wrong? Always have respect for anyone who can make a crossword at all, so not a critique on the creator, but woof that was a hard Wednesday. First one in a while I just gave up on 😭
This was a really, really great Monday! It was the perfect difficulty level and didn’t have obscure trivia or names to get stuck on. The O shape was also super clever and fun to discover as I solved. Well done!!!
@Joshua Parker With the clues, I personally thought this was pretty clear. I don’t think mountain lions usually eat elves, and even if you didn’t know the movie itself, I don’t think ELK would make sense as a Christmas movie (while they look like reindeer a bit, they aren’t the same animals).
I loved this puzzle!! It wasn’t too tough or over-reliant on trivia/proper nouns, and none of the slightly tougher reveals felt like a stretch or an awkward fill. However it had a few that I needed to come back to and think about, which is always nice (when it pays off). Well done!!
I enjoyed the majority of this puzzle, but even though I guessed that the phrase was probably ZHUZH UP, I had no idea how to spell it. Added to that was the very regional New York deli (one of the many, many in NYC) and a dated HIV med. I’m sure people may know these, but it still feels very obscure and niche for a tricky revealer. Unfortunately, this was the revealer for the entire wordplay of the puzzle (which, to be honest, I also still don’t quite understand). I’ve said it many times, but I’ve never written it out, and ended up having to Google (after trying jhush, zhush, shujh, and any other possible spelling) which just felt like a disappointing end to the puzzle.
I liked this one! Some of the clues were a little bit of a stretch (ORS especially) but the theme was clever and took me a bit to understand without being too hard.
@Andrzej REPS is a fairly common word! It’s used specifically when referring to clothing, swag, hats, stickers, etc. (essentially anything you can wear). It’s basically like saying “I’m showing others that I’m a part of this group when I wear this, so I’m REPresenting them in public.”
I loved this puzzle!! It was the perfect Wednesday, not too easy but had a fun and simple twist to figure out.
Wow, this week has been awesome, yesterday’s was super fun and today’s was really clever without being too much of a stretch. Like usual Thursdays, it was confusing at first, but I had a great AHA/AHH moment when I figured it out!
