I may cry. We have four children. Our oldest three are boys. 11 years ago when I was about three or four months pregnant with my last and my only girl I read aloud to my husband my favorite short story of all time.... A little known tale of a man utterly lost in the depths of war who was only able to crawl his was out because of the kindness of a little girl. Through my tears we decided right there to name our daughter after her. I feel so blessed that the inspiration for my daughter's name was honored in NYT today. Thank you!!!
On man. I had a mistake in "Fine as is, actually" and ended up with a "d" in the last spot which lead to this doozy. "How some risks are taken" my answer came out to be "Inabed" which I accepted because well though risquΓ© l, it is in fact true. Lololol
This was perhaps my favorite puzzle ever! I can see however if folks are playing on a platform without color that it would be near on impossible to understand what's going on. That said I still loved it so much!!!
I loved this puzzle!!!! So fun!!! I do think l LINE should be acceptable, if only because clicking the rebus that many times got to be annoying. Regardless. It was a pleasure!!!
Salutations on this lovely Sunday. Today's puzzle was particularly difficult for me!!! I was only able to understand after reading the blog. There were also plenty of clues I had to cheat on, which I never like, but with the unusual rebus this was predictable. I must admit this puzzle wasn't relaxing and not my favorite. But of course you can't please everybody every week! π
This was what I came here to say. :)
I'm actually really upset. I finished the puzzle and the only thing that was keeping me from getting a gold was the way I entered the rebus. I put "kit kat" and whatever it wanted was not that. I have not not gotten gold on a Sunday in probably a year. This is infuriating. I finally gave in and autochecked it. It was just the stinking rebuses. I honestly could cry..... Which says was too much about how much power I'm giving the NYT Sunday puzzle over my life.
@Francis First off I love your name. Francis is a family name for me... Ancestors and a new great nephew! Anyway... No worries. I'm often miffed by some of the comments here and they can make my thumbs really thick as well!!!
I have no idea if this is a common occurrence and I've just missed it, but man does it feel cool doing a crossword by the Creator of The Far Side. OMGoodness!!!
The crossword itself was a smidge too easy and I solved it in way less time than I usually do for a Sunday.... Which was a mixed blasting, as I love to vane glory but also to savor my Sunday crossword. The trick part was too much though. I don't like any escape room things and I absolutely had to read the article in order to figure this one out. Additionally, 121 across, Odd Pair. I still don't understand that one? I'm sure I'll slap my forehead when I'm enlightened but for now I'm stumped.
@Mark SHOOT!!! I even looked at the Wikipedia and it said it was him lolol. Oh no.... I just looked again and I read it too hopefully.
I had to look up the theme even after completing the grid. ππ’
@Anita my favorite clue as well!
@MCHNOLA I did π. It's you late to get gold anyway. π
