I recall when my then wife and I were living large as DINKs. But soon enough, we became SITCOM. Single Income, Two Children, Oppressive Mortgage.
Thank goodness for the down-crossers, because there was no way I was going to spell Chiwetel Ejiofor on my own.
I’m up/down to help her get more comments — I mean, I commented yesterday and if I don’t write something down/up, I’ll feel guilty.
I was stuck for the longest time with “I had a blast” on my top row. Really had to untangle a bunch to figure out that quadrant.
I appreciate the clever construction, but those of us solving in the app don’t have anywhere to jot extraneous letters “outside the box” to keep track of where they are exiting and entering.
I’m still groaning. (Now looking to see if my Dad Joke license is in jeopardy…)
@Julian Thomas Edison’s middle name. I could see how that would throw kinks in the solving, if you haven’t already picked up the theme.
The theme threw me for a loop, but not nearly as much as the second Chelsea. That was such a sure fit that it messed up my vertical crossers for a while.
Very well done! The green highlights were a nice touch.
So we are going to have consecutive puzzles from a married pair of constructors. I’m girding myself for some manner of callback to today’s grid.
I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who was thrown for a (b)loop by that phantom B.
46 Across broke my brain for a bit, because my old brain saw “North Carolina SNL connection” and I was stuck on Robin Duke. 🤦🏻♂️
This was outstanding. Once I figured out what was happening, I found myself hitting the What Goes Up line so I could speedrun the theme answers. Very well done!
The one that vexed me for a moment was 19 Down — “things caddies carry” I was stuck on TEES, and it was only on the “Keep Trying” warning that I saw it was actually TEAS. And no, I’m not a golf nut.
@Eric Agreed. Even with Chiwetel Ejiofor (whose name I still don’t know how to pronounce,) this was easier than Tuesday’s for some reason.
@Dan I’m also seeing instances where the same odd word/clue gets repeated in a Mini from the next day.
Just when I think there isn’t enough resolution to play Nonogram in the middle of a Sunday puzzle, some clever artist drops one on us.
30 Across got me for a moment, as I went to school with Orel’s brother Gordie — who was also a sportscaster.
This one warped my brain — more than 42 minutes. Perhaps next week I will remember to check the instructions instead of running in completely blind. 🤦🏻♂️
@Steven M. I was of the same mind, LEGO™ is already plural.
