I think I'm going to skip the comment section today...

For multi-directional (sorry, OMNI-directional) rebuses, I think I prefer having a revealer or clue somewhere, since I often find myself completely unsure if I'm getting it, but this was a good solve and I got it first try, even though the golden screen kinda surprised me!

Okay, the Balaam one made me laugh out loud.

C'mon, I feel like we all know what OCTOPI means and can predict it as a six letter answer to such clues, regardless of etymological gray area. Language evolves naturally, not according to rules. Let's be linguistic descriptivists, not ever-annoyed prescriptivists. That said, I recognize asking an audience of crossworders to avoid pedantry (I include myself here!) is an excerise in futility. Or should I say NO HOPE?

Really amazing. Putting the revealer at the very end was a master stroke. Well done!

This was crazy hard (especially the NW), but it all felt more than fair. It was one that felt good to complete. Well done, and looking forward to the next 10!

Pleasantly surprised that the comments aren't full of OCTOPI-esque complaints about "vorticies" (either we're more chill on the weekend, or the mods are tired of it!), but this was a really fun one. I love puns, and these were top notch. Not sure if "Erotic artist?" or "Animal tranquilizer?" cracked me up more. Perfect Sunday!

I'm letting my Millennial show, but I just loved seeing RAWR in here. Fun solve!

Very, very hard, but I liked it! I had to look up the LSD pitcher and the Batman character, but otherwise I was able to grind it out, even though it took forever! A lot of trivia I didn't know, but was able to solve through crossings. Great puzzle!

I really enjoyed this. Maybe my first no-lookup for a Saturday (?), which largely thanks to a lower challenge level I think, but it was a really fun solve with really fun cluing. The SIRI clue was top tier!

Well, my Saturday best time is now shorter than my Friday best!

Fun one, though I have to agree with the "Friday-Saturday swap" conspiracy theory lol. The only thing that trapped me was that I had BEST/BIND for a long time and only got the gold when finding REST/RIND. While the puzzle wasn't necessarily difficult, I enjoyed the whole thing!

It's one thing to criticize the puzzle (that's more than fine!), but I'm not a fan of criticizing what you guess are the intentions of the creator. Reading the quotes from them, I don't think they were trying to prove their cleverness or create an impossible puzzle. Pretty much every creator is trying to creating a fun game for all of us. Sometimes it will hit with you, and sometimes it won't. C’est la vie!

I think I'm in the "liked it" camp in this divided forum today. I enjoyed the theme very much. I didn't have trouble in the SE like others, but, man, the PRAGENCIES area was devilish! (Looking at it now, it makes me think of that viral video with all the misspellings of "pregnancy" haha.) I also was introduced to the word HEP, which just *had* to be HiP. Good solve!

It's clear there is significant overlap in the Venn of "crossword enjoyers" and "wine enjoyers". I only fit in one of those groups, but the NYT may push me to it just to be a better solver! 😅

I'm not here to say the puzzle is bad. I like almost all of it, and really liked the theme. But I am here to say: 1. JAPE/JAKE was pretty bad 2. NE corner was rough, but that was me being dumb (yes Jesse, steam is made of WATER but VAPOR makes more sense)

I'm confused why 65A is clued with the plural [Words...] instead of [Word...]?
