My only issue was forgetting that theatre is spelt differently (just as spelt is not generally an accepted alternative for spelled) across the pond and not checking the crosses when I put that in
@jbesen Thank you! I spent way too long looking at that (solving downs first) wondering how the heck terrace could fit in before finally settling on semi because at least that fits for 2 houses in the row
Two Star Wars clues in a puzzle this small is a tad much imo (though two clues in any would be two too many for me personally I understand tastes differ)
I was misled for a while (solving downs first) because 'moguls' also fit in 41D and is factually correct. If that's an intentional misdirect it's a good one!
104D means something quite different from dessert to me and maybe a lot of Brits under maybe 40 (although I'd be delighted to be corrected on the age front)
@Andrzej It’s ‘wuss’ instead of ‘woos’ but you’re most of the way there! Sadly those of us in the UK can’t see your picture as might has geoblocked us :(
@Joe Agreeing as a native of Derby (which is not pronounced like you do the race, Americans, it's an 'a' sound). I'm sure there are relevant colouring books but the ice cream rec for anyone who might find themselves in the region is Bluebells. They have a nice farm you can visit and the ice cream is available in a lot of tourist sites.
@Steve L You're mostly right and I appreciate the clarification but a small point: A college here is not just a prep school. That's just in private education. It more commonly refers to a place some students go for their last two years before university. Our equivalent of high school goes to 16, then you go to college or sixth form.
@Jane Wheelaghan ATTs is a short form of attorney.
@Helen Wright There are still Brownies in the UK system. Rainbows are the youngest, then Brownies, then Guides (and Rangers if they still want to stay on when they age out of Guides)
@SBK Yes but post union means the title isn’t King (or Queen) of England. It’s of the United Kingdom. While you could argue they’re all kings of England in the same way they’re all kings of Manchester that’s not really the title
@Alex I disagree. It's just not cricket.
Generous of the setter to include so many people I like to publicly bash in the grid with that clue
@Antonietta When I'm in this situation I make a note of what I've got, clear the puzzle and redo. Usually there's a typo there that I just can't see without retyping (if you're a streak person, I believe clear will reset your streak so use the delete key instead)
@Janet The 'R' on the end of the clue is crucial...
@Andrea Carla Michaels I should add that it was a fun puzzle generally and I hope you haven't received too much negativity!
