This is the first time I finished a puzzle with no hints! I just started really playing these crosswords about a month ago so I’m ATAD proud of myself. :) This was a fun puzzle to play. I kept thinking “orcas” would be involved with ramming boats and scaring people in 17A, so that was the last part I could get.

Definitely one of the best puzzles I’ve ever solved and I can’t even say I’m a Trekkie. I actually laughed out loud when I figured out the relation between 11D and 112 A. By Juan’s early light is a new one for me haha Even though I’m not too familiar with the characters apart from watching the 2009 reboot movies once, the phrases weren’t so obscure that I couldn’t figure them out with a little help from the crossings. And lastly, realizing all the characters are literally getting beamed up to THE ENTERPRISE which is curved in the shape of the actual ship at the top really tied it all together. I mean… wow! Superb puzzle construction.

One Hamilton mention and now I’m listening to the entire soundtrack once again lol. Had to check if NEVIS got a name drop. I guess I’ll have to listen to the whole thing just to make sure. 😌

I thought the lowercase n lookalike was the ñ but spelled out as EñA. ETA & LAB RAT makes a lot more sense though. OBVS! Haha MONGolia and MANGONADE had me stuck for way too long before I realized rebuses were involved. And “It comes from the heart” was a cute clue for AORTA.

This one had several plurals and past tense words I ended up having to go back through and recheck. KNEel instead of KNELT, POSts/POSEs instead of POSED. And I definitely had POKERfAcE instead of POKERGAME. I need to read more carefully! This was a good Tuesday for me though, didn’t have to look anything up ☺️

@Andrzej I was thinking SENT is like the modern usage (probably just AAVE) when people say “that sent me!” But it is usually in the context of something funny, so saying sent means thrilled seems a bit of a stretch to me too.

I had MANHATTANHOOKER on there for way too long thinking BRAG was a way to over communicate. *facepalm* I should’ve known NYT would never have that word in a crossword puzzle lol HOOKUP and SPAM makes a lot more sense :-D Also, RILL, AGUE, RIA, and HIE are all new words I’ll have to add to my roster. Nice puzzle!
