the MOUTHYHARPY ARCHIMEDES YAKETYSAX combo, crossing with the most obscure bonkers spelling of AMUCK made for a deeply unsatisfying solve.
what an absolute SLOG… felt like this puzzle was just trivia, trivia, TRIVIA! St. Paulis, Piameters, Swann, Tara Road, Arie, Marta, Ned Beatty, Smolt… I like a good challenge but this was not fun at all.
gagged a little when I finally got 68-down… yuck.
I didn't think this puzzle was as bad as others, but SMEW on a Monday is insane.
was so excited to see that Nick Offerman contributed to a puzzle! …and then I tried to play it. I legitimately looked at my calendar wondering if I somehow had the date wrong, because I thought surely this couldn't be a Wednesday crossword. so. much. trivia.
this. was. awesome. The cascading Q's are a thing of beauty, and MEAT SWEATS cracked me up (and grossed me out). What a great Saturday debut!
UGH! Broke my longest streak to date (28 days) because I'd never heard of ADLAI or BASS, and ISR never even crossed my mind as a "country".
What a great puzzle! Something about this one was just so satisfying to put together.
Super fun! Loved all the long crosses. Blew through most of it in well under a typical Saturday time for me, but had to turn to Google to find which vowel belonged in the crossing of SNELLEN/EMI (not being familiar with either Dutch optometrists or the Sex Pistols).
@Kevin yeah gosh, who could guess that a puzzle titled "It's All Greek" where the grid is shaped like a giant Greek letter would have anything to do with the Greek alphabet? (also, solving the puzzle didn't require using a Greek keyboard. You could enter either I/O or PHI in the rebus squares).
@lujoc PHI, I/O, and IO all were accepted. What about this was difficult? Generally rebus squares that are different for across/down accept either the across or down fill, which was the case here. very straightforward.
