12 down is WRONG! "Ave" is a greeting in Latin, not a farewell. How do I know? I have taught Latin for thirty years and have a Master's in it.

Today's Mini has an inaccurate question, and thus a wrong answer for 1 Down. A wrap for the movie 300 uses toga as an answer. That movie was about Greeks at Thermopylae and Marathon centuries before Rome conquered Greece. No togas, not possible. How sloppy, NYT. I expect better.
