This puzzle was very cleve, but not fun. There are several cheats or downright errors here. Crescendo is NOT abbreviated as "cres." And "flam"? Give me a break. That alone would disqualify this puzzle. But this was also almost impossible to play on the app, because only the stolen artist names were highlighted, and not the altered clues, which were the ones that were the real challenges, since they not only involved missing pieces, but also irrelevant inserted letters. Thumbs down on this one.

Boooo to "Pan in". A pan and a zoom are not the same, and this is at best a marginal clue and answer pair.

Terrific puzzle. Completely satisfying and with many clues that brought a smile to my face when I figured out the wordplay. I was able to solve with no lookups even of the Names I'd never heard of. That's not really a brag, (I often and without shame look up names if I'm stuck) but a compliment on the construction which allowed for me to compete it based on general knowledge. Congratulations to the constructor.

This puzzle kicked my... well, you know. I didn't enjoy it, but it was a well made puzzle.

Great puzzle. Clever and tricky. Now, to the NYT: Listen, I pay a subscription for the games and I'm happy to do so. But by axing the free mini crossword you have just made MY subscription less valuable, and less attractive, because I no longer have anyone to play against every day. You can afford to make the mini free, you cheapskates.
