48D: a trope is not a cliché; it is simply a category.

This puzzle belonged on a Monday in 2005. Far too easy, especially if you know anything about American Jewish culture. A lot of odd, antithetical clues like 48A, 55D, and 65A. When was the last time any human said “can so” in conversation? 1904? A lot of tired answers as well like Arlo, Eire, and O’Hare as well (when do we get the clue “airport between 121 and 635?”)

@Marshall Walthew are they actually? I can’t find any mythology or folklore that actually associates elms with wisdom. Anybody have any sources?

The Faith Hill song is called “This Kiss,” not “This.” Did I miss something?

32 Down: there is no standardized shot-glass size, so how can a clue be based on one?

“PEG” as the answer for an image file is dirty pool. .PEG files are extremely esoteric, to the point that there’s no standardized use of the extension (multiple apps use it for different purposes). The clue wants, in descending order, JPG, PNG, GIF, IMG, or BMP.
