Good puzzle. Not a big movie person but the quotes were gettable.
I don't like crossing two proper noun names like in the top right. 'Soli' also borders on fair the use as the plural of solos is pretty arcane and it immediately rings to those with some musical background as a 'solo' for a section of the band.
Problem is it all works as a rebus until you get to maximum/axles.
Relatively new 250+ puzzles solved got every one this week until this one. First time ever commenting to say that this was the first puzzle I've ever found to be irritating and unfair.
A really poor puzzle. Gave up and revealed after 19 minutes. Never got any of the second halves of the theme answers and really wish we would stop crossing proper nouns like square 9 if you don't know either you're done. If Fine is B, Average is not B+. Seep is not to soak slowly soaking refers to wetting an object seeping refers to water passing through an object you would never soak rainwater through a hole in a roof nor would you seep potatoes prior to baking. Ave for blvd crosser borders on arbitrary; an ERA isn't really a life phase it's a phase of anything and once again we're saying 'general thing, say' and getting to specific thing and it should be the opposite. EGO is a better fit. "Wanna see" has nothing to do with "Are you ready for this?" "WANNAGO" perhaps? "First and Last, say" does not lead to "FULLNAME". It's the wrong order. You could say "Full name, say" for "FIRSTANDLAST" but it's again reversing the order of operations.
@Charles Peterson the trombone section had two bars of greatness.
@Erin W I had all the same problems and hadn't failed a Tuesday in forever. The puzzles have to be careful with the crossing foreign language words. I didn't get the T in raita/tia either but that's particularly poor Spanish...
@Francis rules like using the English language to logically lead readers from a clue to an answer? If the clue is "Two plus two" and the answer is FIVE because you know no words really mean anything and language is imprecise these'll become useful quick. A true sign of maturity in puzzle solving is recognizing the difference between fair and unfair deviations from the mean instead of chalking it all up to youthful indiscretion.
@Chris Not knowing the exact title of the Roan album I thought the E must be an I forever especially for Tuesday. HEP isn't a thing HIP is.
