Can someone smarter than me tell me why “NONE” is an acceptable substitute for “ZERO” for 33A? Especially when the clue says “NUMBER of…”?

@B IDK, I’m all for wordplay, but this doesn’t seem like that. I think of wordplay as “here’s an alternate interpretation of this word which you might not have thought of at first glance,” or a pun. Like if the clue was “Number of states beginning with C,” would “A few” be a good answer? Not really.
