@Sylvie I mean, it is a FACE TAT(TOO) after all? Good clue for that entry, could have been something less interesting/unique for international audiences. I don't think that simplification of definition undermines its tapu in Te Ao Māori. Pretty cool to have it feature in NYT crossword - and hopefully lead people here to learn about it's complexity!
@Dave K. Your FACETAT is my TAFFYPULL - I was delighted to have something so local greet me in the grid today. And great to learn something new, no?
Great! Loved the puzzle, fill was just right. One of the box sets happened to be my family members' names, a jarring surprise!
Curses, the one time I remember to correct ECG to EKG for the US, they switch it up on me.
Great puzzle! As always, hampered by US-specific things, but getting better. Had fun with the SW corner: not au fait with lumberjack things or MLB royalty, I had EMIR for a prince, giving BLUES for the doldrums. Love those fun alternatives!
@Wendy it's not just the Americanisms, and I try not to moan about it given it's my choice to do a NYT crossword - it's the amount of trivia and compromises to make it work (obscure spellings of some answers too) and get a decent foothold. No problem with US state abbreviations really.
