@Jimbo only if you're trying to get the puzzle wet do you pour over it. Pore: to read or study with steady attention or application. Dictionaries are everywhere these days.
Ha! Yeah, I liked it. Clever construction that went half a level deeper than most gags.
A fun solve, but I have to say PAR is far from "average" for a golfer. Less than 1% of all golfers will ever shoot a round of par or better in their lives.
@Heg 123A is referring to a rowing team. Rowing is also called crew, so crew team does work.
@Nate In 2003, Minolta merged with Konica to form Konica Minolta. On 19 January 2006, Konica Minolta announced that it was leaving the camera and photo business,[2] and that it would sell a portion of its SLR camera business to Sony as part of its move to pull completely out of the business of selling cameras and photographic film.
@AM Tina Fey says it in 30 Rock with some regularity
This wasn't quite a Monday but I finished it faster than Tuesday and at 7:35 it's 5:00 better than my Wednesday average. That said, pretty fun solve and a good theme.
@Anne it looks funny written and sounds funny spoken, which puts it pretty high in my word pantheon, up there with boondoggle and chiaroscuro.
Strong contender for puzzle of the year. So subtle and so impressive.
Very strange to encounter a puzzle with both of my kids' names as answers. Couldn't believe the "nickname for Isaac" clue when I got to it.
@Jonathan agreed, just outright incorrect.
@B agreed, new PB Sunday for me at 24:08, which I think says more about the puzzle than about me.
@latenightsolver Solvent (the nt stands for "no theme")
@Brannon "on the other hand" is the hedge, abbreviating it makes it short
