I was nauseated* that I had to check the puzzle to find my error. *Did I spell that correctly?

@Marshall Walthew Since I only text with my thumbs (which are, unfortunately, the fattest fingers), when I create typing errors I refer to myself as “Johnny Fat-Thumbs”. The fact that it makes me sound like a gangster gives me street cred.

When I filled in the double m’s and double x’s, I started to fear that this puzzle was going to involve Roman numerals, which are like kryptonite to me. The ultimate conceit was much better… once I figured it out about halfway through solving the puzzle.

@Fender, Gay cis white guy replying. Over the years, Q has stood for both “queer” and “questioning”. That sort of makes it “LGBTQQ”, but I think the Alphabet Soup is hard enough for some people to remember as it is.

@Pcraves I used to wonder if Nabisco was a sponsor. With all the free marketing, they should give the NYT a little kickback.

@Clem Yup, it’s like a mimosa, but made with peach nectar instead of OJ. It’s a nice variation, but I prefer the original. (Something about the acidity level, perhaps?)

@Steve L Professional orchestral musician here. Piu lento comes up in scores, about as often as meno mosso. With harder puzzles, I frequently scan through the clues, looking for obscure classical composers (to non-musicians, anyway) to help me get started. None this time, but “meno mosso” came easily to me. Didn’t keep me from failing in the end, but it gave me a bit of satisfaction.

I had to get to “ANDY” through cross-answers. I was unaware that “DY” is Spanish for “AN”…and the little bit of Googling I did was unable to confirm it for me.

@SP Jason uses the phrase “catch feelings” on NBC’s “The Good Place.

@Elizabeth Connors I couldn’t get away from “SITU” for “place”—not sure that word would ever work for that clue, but I just couldn’t come up with the “LIE” part of “LIEU” (though it made sense after I gave up and had them reveal one of the cross words). This one was really hard for me. Felt more like a Friday puzzle. I am humbled.

@Ernest Lower left for me. Upon self-reflection, part of the problem was that I had decided Drac didn’t feel seen during “self-reflection”.

@Bill in Yokohama At one point I came up with “STD talk”. I figured AIDS was relatively new at the time and maybe SOMEONE was talking about it (even if POTUS wasn’t).
