I'm relatively new to NYT crosswords and have been working my way up to more difficult puzzles (per the NYT suggestion to start with Monday puzzles, etc., since they get progressively harder throughout the week), and I just have to say, this was NOT a "Tuesday-level" puzzle! I love a good challenge, but this was downright discouraging at times.
Loved this puzzle! Fast and fun. I'll admit, it didn't feel as difficult as most Saturday puzzles do, but it was tricky enough that it didn't feel *too* easy either.
I loved this puzzle! I was a bit stumped on what the (ROW) clues meant until I came here and read the explanation, but overall, the puzzle was fun to solve. Well done!
@Sam Corbin Thank you for your encouragement. :) I'm not going to give up, but this was a humbling experience for sure!
@JA That threw me, too! However, if you read the article above (which breaks down the answers to this puzzle), you'll see what they did. As someone who's never been on a ski lift, I feel like that was a bit of a presumptuous stretch, but overall, I thought it was a cute puzzle.
Okay, I don't understand how I'm supposed to know whether to leave off the last letter or turn those squares into rebus squares so I can include both letters to complete the word... At first, that's what I did because the answers did not make sense without the final letters. After reading your column (thank you!) I went and changed all the rebus squares back to one letter and left off the final letter of each of those words to complete the puzzle. I'm grateful for the help, but I still don't understand how these answers make sense and why a rebus would not apply here. I'm grateful for any help in understanding this.
