I enjoyed this puzzle! It was tough but I got through it only 15 or so minutes over my average. I’ve found myself rolling my eyes at oft-repeated crosswordese in the past few weeks, so today’s grid was refreshing. I’m all for incorporating newfangled language and also appreciate the tidbits that harken back a ways. I solved this sitting near my Granny’s painting of her cat, Bwana, while cuddled up with my own fluffy feline. All in all, a nice Saturday. Thanks Sam!

@CalGal I did the same thing! “I think this clue is…wrong? But the editors are so good…?” After yammering aloud some more I finally got it, whoosh.

@Chris J They don’t call tobacco shops “head shops” ‘round these parts neither, but they do sell electronic imbibing devices at cannabis stores.

@jazzpsy 38 here and solving daily for 5 years or so. This one threw me for a loop. I’m still not clear on how “fit” fits with “meet,” hmm.

@Man and 2 dogs I worked on the Bee for hours while in the airport and on planes yesterday and am in the same boat as you. Opened the app to start the crossword today and it popped up still open— got one five-letter word. Finished the crossword at least!

Edited to add: I just found the pangram and it took me looking up the definition to realize I actually know the word, ha. 4 points to go!
