@N.E. Body I have yet to read any of Toni Morrison's books, and I was able to complete it quite easily, seeing as she's one of the most famous American authors of all time.

Quite a challenging puzzle for me, though I didn't struggle with the theme clues once I solved MARTIN SHEEN/HENRI MATISSE and GREG KINNEAR/REGINA KING. I guess I have a mind for letter banking. Lots of new (to me) words today! MOUE, SOLI, NAVE, LIEN and RECTO. Always good to expand my vocabulary. I really struggled with the SW corner, having to use the answer key (which I usually never do). I do take issue with 116D being TMC instead of TCM. I guess it could refer to Turner Movie Channel? But I know it as Turner Classic Movies. Maybe it's due to me being 22. I never had cable, just an XBOX 360 with streaming services and an antenna for PBS. Anyway, overall a pretty fun puzzle to nurse my hangover lol

@HeathieJ ah, good to know! I guess I have a perception of the term cinephile as referring to someone who engages with classic and arthouse films moreso than someone who just likes movies. So my own bias (and unfamiliarity with cable channels) played a part in that!

@Helen Wright Southwest England certainly denote Somerset, Devon, Cornwall etc. But the clue is specifically SW Britain, including Scotland. Looking at it from that angle, Wales is definitely in the southwest of the UK as a whole.

just a correction for the blog: Scots is its own language (be that a fairly mutually intelligible one with English) not a dialect of English!
