As a relatively new solver, this was one of the Thursday’s that I was able to solve without any help. I’m so excited. I’m a former b-ball player and a fan, so that helped, but I thought that the standard Thursday twist was readily discernible today. Thanks, Mr. Bodily!

I’m a new solver, and have learned that Thursday puzzles are not straightforward. While I filled the grid with relative ease for me, I did not get the gold star when I finished, and I was well aware that I had not earned it because I was clueless, so to speak, about the squares with circled letters. Try as I might, I couldn’t see the logic. I read Deb’s explanation, and was dazzled by the ability of Mr. Grinberg. I have no complaints about this puzzle, and am filled with admiration. I expect to be challenged in this way on Thursdays. Bravo, Mr. Grinberg.

I just have to comment that I loved the Ira Glass clue. This puzzle challenged me a bit for a Monday, but it was a lot of fun. Nice work Professor Byl.

As a relatively new solver, I appreciated this Friday puzzle that I could solve without a lookup. It made me feel as if I am making some headway. I actually knew the nail polish clues from doing previous puzzles. Yippee! Thanks, Mr. Musa.

@Helen Wright I put “tie” and thought I was so clever too. Just another Boo-Boo! Fun puzzle.

@LJADZ I feel a bit sad that you have dismissed Wicked as mere “pop culture fluff” without having seen it. The music is complex, as is the metaphor it weaves. I’ve taught and directed a lot of Shakespeare, and I sat at the conclusion of Wicked and wept. It is a deeply moving piece that is well regarded and beloved by many for very good reasons. Is it entertaining and “Popular”? It sure is, but that doesn’t qualify it as meaningless or a waste of time. I write this because I think you’re missing out on a wonderful piece. Happy puzzling.

After I finished the puzzle, I revisited the Rush drummer’s “Ultimate Drum Solo” from an old Letterman show. It’s on YouTube, and it’s great. Thanks to this puzzle for reminding me to do that. Enjoy.

@Jennene I’m having the same issue. I was not able to work Wed. - Sat. this week, and I had no option but to play the Sunday puzzle. I couldn’t scroll down to the archive for the current week and choose a different puzzle. That’s such a great feature. I hope that this is a glitch versus a permanent change.

@JayTee That’s what I always do, but now I can’t scroll. My only option is to start playing the current puzzle. That’s the issue we are discussing. Thanks for the reply.
