@Howard N. I thought it was such a fun puzzle and a perfect Thursday challenge!
So many Wicked haters in the comments! I for one thought the puzzle was delightful and fitting to feature a witch the day before Halloween. And if you are a musical hater, just know that many people actually love them, or at least are familiar with the ones that are the top grossing film of a Broadway musical (not exactly niche!) and there's room for all kinds in this world of crossword puzzles.
I thought this puzzle was great fun, and the revealer made perfect sense to me! The negativity in these comments is so dramatic it's kind of funny... come on, people, if it was hard for you that doesn't mean it was a bad puzzle. Sore losers abound but the puzzle was a delight!
I don't see a wordplay article for the August bonus crossword puzzle, so I'm putting this comment here--I just completed the August bonus puzzle and found an error. I emailed the NYT games about it but thought I'd put in here in case that email isn't checked. For 65A the clue is: "If I loved you less, I might be able to talk about it more" speaker in a Jane Austen novel. However, the speaker that fits in that space is not the correct speaker. Mr. Knightley spoke that line, not Emma. As a big Austen fan, I spotted this right away and was very surprised!
I loved this one! The kitkat theme was so fun once I figured out the first one and speeded up the solve tremendously. Perfect Sunday treat!
@Amy I also figured it out and filled it in with rebuses and then was confused when the puzzle wasn't complete. I checked for errors and didn't find any and had to break my streak to figure out that you weren't supposed to type the letters from the clues in. Fun trick though!
@Justin agreed! I imagine this was hard for anyone under 40 (it certainly was for me at 30!)
@Jane Wheelaghan It's an abbreviation for seniors, which is what you are if you're in your last year of college (in the US at least)
