Lovely puzzle today. I was stuck for a moment then suddenly the remaining three theme answers jumped out at me and I finished in a satisfying flurry. Happy new years and happy to see Mr Shortz back.

@Andrzej I usually don't try Fridays because I get stuck fast but this one I almost completed without looking anything up. It was easier than the usual Friday I'd say.

@CCNY I'm a non-US solver and I found this puzzle quite easy. Didn't know LITTLELULU, OSHEA, IONA or SEAMUS but they were not hard to get from crossings. Still for a Monday I thought there were a few too many proper nouns.
