Started confidently at 1A with "WARSAWPACT". Oops.
Really easy for a Saturday. Personal best Saturday time.
106D: "WATTS" aren't units of light; they units of power. Engine "horsepower" can be expressed in Watts. OTOH, light can be measured in "lumens" or "candelas".
Not sure how "wire holders" works out to be "pylons" (25D). I must be missing some context. But got it easily from the crossings.
Yep, I was way over my average time for a Saturday.. And once again, the upper left corner was the hardest for me.
Tripped up by 36D. Nothing to indicate an abbreviation, so I filled in "RUN". Then had trouble with the second and third crosses. Finally sussed it.
@Andrew Yep, me too. A few tricky ones today, but easy to fill in.
New personal best for a Monday.
I thought 1A was pretty obscure, but maybe not. (My grandfather taught me the game.)
Surprisingly easy for a Friday puzzle.
Shouldn't the clue for 40A be "Handles..." not "Handled...", to match tense?
The link for "mindbending science of color" goes to the wrong article.
Easy breezy. New personal best for a Saturday puzzle.
Two in a row that were too easy for the end of the week.
