@deborah "The penny dropped" meaning sudden understanding (often after a period of confusion0 has an interesting history. Different British sources refer to ◘ a coin-operated phone (1939), which activated after the penny placed in the slot "dropped" to the sensor — and often failed to ◘ or, more distressingly, to the door to a pay toilet. Meanwhile, I thought it referenced coins turning on the heat in your flat for a certain amount of time.

@Francis "Gender deviation" is a fine term. Thank you.

@Andrzej The new owner sounds who wouldn't let you recover a box of toys narsty. Did you consider doing something ◄conflagatory► (New To Me, hat tip to 𝑬𝒍𝒎𝒆𝒓 𝑩𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒏) about it? [Czesz]

@Times Rita I start with oldest. Going the other way feels like pushing a t̶h̶r̶e̶a̶d̶ string.

@Andrzej There are two kinds of crossword puddles. 1. Those worth overthinking.

@Andrzej Apparently BBC does not train its presenters to pronounce common foreign words correctly. Your name in English has three syllables: live with it. Spare some pity for Agnieszka in the wilds of Chicago. But that's better than the US, where nobody even tries. Let's tie this gratuitous digression together with ▬ https://www.reddit.com/r/dankmemes/comments/oe32gx/the_power_of_name_grzegorz_brz%C4%99czyszczykiewicz/ ▬ and drop the subject.

@john ezra (and anyone else) Emus? Someone just validated my handle.
