@Robco The royal we? You know, the editorial? That’s just like, you know, your opinion, man.
@Barry Ancona I am not scouring the comments to check for redundancy. But glad you do. And anyway an error is an an error is an error.
I always thought Burpee was the effect of the exercise.
Too many abbreviations as fill, and the rebus gimmick to boot: suboptimal Sunday
@Ms. Billie M. Spaight and that’s why a warning was at the front end of his post for the faint of heart.
@Markono idea what this grievance references. Please explain.
Loved this puzzle. Just brilliant.
@JC wasn’t that hard. Just keep crossing.
NYT described Sunday puzzles as basically Wednesday puzzles but longer. No chance of that today. Obscure to the NTH degree.
Tough one to break into but fun. I was thrown for a because I had Leaves of Grass instead of Les Mis… I associated Whitman and Leaves of Grass with the Civil War years. Then I backed out and did some more crosses.
Quibble: Snowden not directly employed by NSA.
Caitlin has an error in the column. 39A doesn’t solve to past-tense of Broach. I had it, checked the column and then the error in the column threw me for a while. Beware.
@Mark Carlson watch Goodfellas. Joe Pesci … will say no more if you haven’t seen it.
25A was interesting to me. While I understand HAVING and what it means to have or not have something, I am missing connection between the clue and the answer. To have or not have a wedding... But as clued I wanted to answer with Hawing (ie, to hem and haw about something). Fun puzzle, but welcome some enlightenment on 25A.
@Darren Au contraire - this was a great puzzle. It just took some noodling. Keep noodling.
Ooh boy that was a toughie but fun. Had to use my Saturday brain for this one. But worth it. Btw watch Devs. Great series with our puzzle constructor. And thanks Christina Iverson as well.
@Lars a tribe that much of Idaho into Wyoming … hard to call that a tribe of the Pacific Northwest
Had Acid Drop for a bit too long. The puzzle was a good trip!
@Philip Koski great puzzle. One where you needed to turn away from it -just for a few minutes - and on the return the answers came in a seepy way.
@Joe the themed entrees had four sets of double letter entries - quad doubles. 49D had just the one double so it would not be “Dream” worthy …
