For years, I paid individually for various Times subscriptions to avoid one thin dime of my money going to sports. I detest the lingo, the violence, the sexism, the gambling, all of it. I cannot express how much I resent sports emphasis in word puzzles intended for a general audience. There are so many subjects covered in these puzzles about which I know nothing, about which I enjoy learning. Sports will never be one. Please keep these for your niche game areas and spare the rest of us.
@HeathieJ The lovely thing is, there is an appropriate place for sports themed puzzles, called the Athletic, which I avoid for obvious reasons. That is where this puzzle belongs. Star Trek never caused CTE, Mario Brothers don't encourage gambling, escape rooms don't encourage doping. Sports are a cesspool I would rather avoid, and lucky us, the Times has a place just for that purpose.
