Rebus Philbin would have loved this one.
@Monica Moreover, how is it off-putting? I would think that an avid crossword player would have an innate interest in the world's myriad languages. What you mean to say is that you are tired of seeing non-English clues, yes? Your comment hints at an insidious xenophobia, but I'm not sure if you intended it to be so. Hopefully not. I might offer that it's never too late to check out Rosetta Stone.
@Monica How is it a foreign language? The U.S. does not have an official language. Check yourself, please.
@john ezra As a somm myself, we'll absolutely recommend the house wine if the guest has a low to moderate budget and the wine fits their description. Not all plonk at all places! (see the wine enthusiast article from last year titled "The House Wine Is Getting a Makeover")
I don't like to race myself, but I happened to wrap this one up in 13 mins. I thought my brain was broken all week, so I'm pretty relieved. Sometimes it just clicks.
@Bizza I work at a bar and we serve Pilsners in a stein that holds the same volume as a pint. It happens!
