I just started with the NY TIMES. How do I know if I actually solved the puzzle? I finally did reveal and it highlighted “rbis” which is correct. I’m still getting used to these puzzles. I thought I’d never even get close to finishing any NY Times crossword but this one was a doozy! It’s an excellent first time puzzle for your debut. It took me almost 3 hours but it was very enjoyable and challenging. I rewrote the bottom 2 answers twice almost completely because they were challenging but solvable. That’s the very best ones.
